Each fortnight we showcase a product we love, something that we think would fit perfectly within our dream IO Kids’ room – alongside our IO Bunk Pod and IO Doodle Box, of course! This week we turn to a wonderful book for children that my girls never travel anywhere without.
Every so often a book comes along that is unlike anything else…
Wet Pebbles Under Our Feet by Manja Stojic is one of those books. It is a story about a pink hatted girl who for the first time travels with her mum and her two uncles to their childhood island home ‘Far away in the deep blue sea to a small island with a pebbly shore’.
Illustrated with large, heavy brushstrokes and vivid colours this book is without doubt one of the most treasured things in our IO Kids Room not only because of the wonderful simplicity of its story and the vibrant illustrations that draws us into it with every turn of the page but because it also reminds us of our own fond memories and happy moments of growing up on a tiny island with a pebbly shore; of the ferry boat rides and fresh fish soup and most of all of our own long walks along the shore feeling those wet pebbles under our feet!
