In Our Room – Tea for One Table and Dandelion Stool!

Each week we showcase a design product we love, something that we think would fit perfectly within our dream IO Kids’ room – alongside our IO Bunk Pod and IO Doodle Box, of course!

Here at IO Kids Design, we like few things more than a nice cup of tea (especially if it comes with a biscuit – or two) so you can imagine how charmed we were when we encountered DesignK’s purpose-designed Tea For One table at the recent Made in Clerkenwell. Crafted from solid ash, it’s rendered even more joyful with the addition of waxed cotton strings wound around its slightly splayed legs – choose from red, yellow, green, black or white – and the ceramic plate that sits nestled within its top can even be customised with the design or message of your choice.

When it comes to children, that message could of course be “Go to SLEEP! …darling” which is why we’re not necessarily advocating the use of the Tea for One table for tea, or any caffeinated drink, in an IO Kids bedroom! But as a bedside table to hold a mug of warm milk, or a banana (did you know that natural sleep aids lurk beneath that bright yellow skin?) or perhaps, as a special treat, a nibbly biscuit or two… well, did you ever mind about crumbs in the bed when you were little? Us neither!

We’re also particularly enamoured of the Dandelion Stool, from the same designer: bright, quirky and just as comfortable as the most precious bottoms deserve. Well, yes, okay, that could include yours – a nice perch for the reading of a bedtime story perhaps – but we love the idea of one by the window, for stargazing. Moulded plywood forms the three splayed legs (or stalks) and a sponge pad, shaped like a bud, is covered by a bright and fully removable hand knitted cover.

Designer Byung says that his designs are ‘made to people smile’. We say: impossible not to!
